The Journey:
Our adventure yesterday commenced from M9 Chalong at 8:30 am, featuring our group with myself, Chris, and the 'Bubble Bee Couple' aboard their jet ski 'Bubble Bee', and my own jet ski, 'Bubble Gum'. We smoothly sailed over the sea's gentle swells at 35km/h, reaching Racha Yai in 50 minutes. Our fishing endeavours began in the channel between Racha Yai and Racha Noi, a haven for Bonito Tuna, Jacks, and Thai Mahi.
Our visit to a secluded lagoon on the far east side of Racha Noi was a peaceful moment of the trip. Around 11:40 am, we enjoyed a break for snorkelling and relaxation, a perfect shelter from the Thai sun. The day's most memorable scene unfolded in the channel, where Bonito fish actively fed on batfish around our jet skis.
Safety Guidelines:
1. Tide Checking: Before setting out, it's crucial to check the tide schedule for easy ramp access.
2. Anchoring: Remember to bring ropes and anchors when stopping at the lagoon. Only anchor in sandy areas to protect coral reefs, and use both front and back anchors to secure your jet ski.
3. Awareness of Divers and Swimmers: Exercise caution when cruising near the islands. Stay alert for divers and swimmers, look for buoys, and maintain a low speed in populated areas to ensure safety.
4. Sun Protection: Given the intensity of the Thai sun, using proper sun screening products is strongly advised to protect your skin during the trip.
We concluded our day around 5:00 PM, returning to Chalong. The expedition was a beautiful blend of fishing excitement and a reminder of the importance of responsible boating and self-care.
